| | Zero Wing (aka "All your base are belong to us") The drawing and text is from the 1989 Japanese video game Zero Wing. In 1991 the English version for the Sega Genesis was rushed out too fast and resulted in some extremely poor translations of the game dialogue. The phrase "All your base are belong to us" stood out as particularly humorous and was rediscovered in 2001 when it became a popular Internet catch phrase. The original has been generalized to "All your X are belong to us", where X is filled in to connote a sinister takeover of some sort. |
